The Cocoa High School community is mourning the unexpected death of Athletic Director Eusebio Solis. He was a cherished friend and mentor, known for his kindness and willingness to help others. Cocoa Jr/Sr High Principal Denise Stewart reached out to parents via email, sharing the somber news: “The Cocoa High School family sadly announces the death of our beloved Athletic Director Coach Solis. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and students.”
Who Was Eusebio Solis?
Originally from Madrid, Spain, Solis moved to Hampton, Virginia, during his youth. He graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2004 after a successful college baseball career at Ferrum College.
Solis co-founded Club321 Baseball and played a significant role in opening The Dingers Training Center in Rockledge. Recently, he was appointed as the athletic director at Cocoa High School, where he introduced innovative fundraising methods, including a QR code for donations through Brevard Public Schools.
With seven years of experience as the athletic director at Space Coast High School, Solis had an impressive track record. He served as a varsity baseball coach for nine years, leading the Space Coast Viper Baseball program to three District Championship games and achieving their first title.
After taking over a struggling Cocoa baseball program that had only two wins in three years, he managed to guide them to five wins in his first season. Solis also actively promoted athletics during the Barbecue Bowl broadcast, demonstrating his commitment to the community.
